The Kaleihōkū Foundation focuses on bringing together people of all ages, to respect, embrace, appreciate, and engage in the rich traditions of the Hawaiian culture. We serve as a platform to perpetuate all aspects of the Hawaiian Culture through arts, language, dance, mālama ‘āina, mālama lāhui.
Our Purpose
The Kaleihōkū Foundation was founded in 2022 to perpetuate, preserve and sustain traditional Hawaiian Culture. We look to support all aspects of Hawaiian culture such as arts, language, dance, music and health.
The Kaleihōkū Foundation supports various events throughout the year:
-
various hula events and hula competitions.
-
other local hālau at their annual hōʻike.
-
strive to sustain and perpetuate the Hawaiian language in our Hawaiian communities.
-
preserving and passing down of family recipes of traditional hawaiian foods.
-
practicing native hawaiian farming and cultivation.
-
preserving the legends and the stories of our rich hawaiian culture.
The Kaleihōkū Foundation also strives to speak, act, and live through a native hāwaiʻi proverb or ʻōlelo noʻeau- Mālama kekahi i kekahi (to take care of one another)
Currently, The Kaleihōkū Foundation has been active in the collection and donation of goods to all those who were affected in the Maui wild fires. We continue to gather and take in donations for those on Maui who are still in need.
